After taking the Look N Type application for a short spin on the LG Optimus 7, we take a look at another LG program available from the LG Application Store inside Windows Phone 7′s Marketplace.

The app is called Photo Stylist and is available for free for LG Windows Phone 7 owners. It is a program which enables you to add effects and filters to your pictures on the phone as well as customize them, all with the help of a real time preview. You can either select a picture from your Collection or you can have the app simply grab a photo using the handset’s camera and start working on your photo enhancement. Check it out below:

LG is offering free applications for LG Windows Phone 7 owners which can be accessed from the LG Application Store inside Windows Phone 7′s Marketplace.

Look N Type is an application similar to Android’s RoadSMS and TransparentSMS on Windows Phone 6.x platforms and it will overlay the camera image to the screen so that you can see what’s ahead of you while composing an Email, Text Message or tweet. While I don’t recommend texting and doing something else — because it can get you in trouble — the application is working well and is packed with features that allow you to change font type, size and color. The LG Optimus 7, one of which we are giving away brand new in our contest, comes bundled with another nice feature besides the unique DLNA support and it is called Panorama Shot.

This program accesses your camera application and enables you to take 180 degree panorama shots split out into five pictures with a single push of the shutter button. The principle is very easy: start the Panorama Shot application, press the Camera button to capture the first segment of your panoramic picture and then the application automatically overlays the arrows indicating in which direction to move your device in order to perfectly align the second picture with its outline overlaid as well. The instant the desired perspective in achieved on the screen, the application automatically fires the shutter to take the second picture and move on to the third. When all five pictures are taken, the program automatically stiches them together in a 3560 x 740 pixel image and saves it for you to access from the Pictures hub.

Note: Panorama pictures showing moving subjects will give you a head-ache as I’ve learned it the rough way myself. Also, there could be some inconsistencies in the final image if the first picture that is captured has more (or less) light than the rest.

In this video we’re taking a look at the hardware on the LG Optimus 7 as well as the form factor and build quality of the Korean Windows Phone 7 handset.

The device is solid, feels good in hand and the materials used leave the impression of a well-designed, well-built handset. The battery cover is stainless steel and the casing is plastic — but doesn’t feel cheap at all — as well as plastic hardware buttons at the bottom (my only concern is that the silver color on these might fade away with time but we’ll have to see that in the long run).

Specs-wise, the LG Optimus 7 is pretty much like all the other Windows Phone 7 handsets out there but with a few features of its own, like the largest battery capacity among Windows Phone 7 devices with its 1,500mAh pack that according to an AnandTech research, is 17.7% more efficient than HTC Surround and 26.9% more efficient than Samsung Focus. Also, according to the Windows Phone 7 official page, the talk time on the LG Optimus 7 is 480 minutes as opposed to Samsung Omnia’s 370 minutes and HTC HD7′s 380 minutes. So far, with my typical day-to-day usage, I’ve managed to go approximately two days on a full charge, using two email accounts, surfing the web, listening to music, using Facebook and Twitter, checking out maps and getting familiar with the device and its operating system.

The other unique feature is the use of physical hardware buttons for the old fashioned, tactile feedback button enthusiasts. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 launch date has been subject to many rumors and speculations in the lack of any certain information from the Redmond giant.

Looks like their best kept secret is not a secret anymore after Paul Thurrott’s discussion with a “very reliable source” that indicated that Microsoft’s highly anticipated mobile platform, Windows Phone 7, will be launched in the US on November 8 this year. Paul Thurrott also mentions that previous rumors implying a Microsoft’s event on October 11 in New York are true, only that the October event is completely unrelated to Windows Phone. While there’s been no information from the source about the European launch date for the platform, we might see it happen before the US event.

As reliable the source might be we still file this under the Rumor category with all the mystery floating around the platform and its launch date. Regardless if we’re talking about October or November, we’re getting there eventually, so tell us your thoughts below on your predictions considering all the launch dates that have been floating around lately.
